How does a session with you usually go?

I'm so glad you asked!

A photo session is such an important experience, and it's important to me to offer you as much control over your session as possible.   

To start with, I offer an optional consult before you even book!  This is a great opportunity for us to get together and chat about what you want from your session, go over any questions you may have, bounce around styling or session ideas, set a session date, and go over the session contract.  I am always happy to meet you in a coffee shop or to chat on the phone.  Consults usually last 30-45 minutes and are usually take place 2 weeks to six months before your session.  This is an optional "first step" to getting you booked.  If you want to book without a consult or prefer to chat online, that's totally fine! 

The next step is the actual booking process.  It's really very straight forward: just confirm your date and time and put down 50% of your session fee as a retainer.  All dates and times are advertised as available until retainer fee is paid, so you aren't on the books until a retainer fee is paid.  Your retainer fee is one-time transferable toward a different date if we need to reschedule.  The remaining balance of your session fee is due at the time of your session, so you don't need to worry about it yet!  Once I receive your retainer, I send you a copy of the contract to print (if you didn't already get one at the consult) and I send out a tip sheet to help you prep for your session.  I do make myself as available as possible to answer any questions you have between now and your session, and I'm always happy to bounce ideas around!  Once your date is set and you're officially on the books, we agree on a location.  I'll often send you a few options as I come across them so we can find the perfect location for your session!

And now, the moment we've all been waiting for...the SESSION!!  My sessions usually last around an hour, though this varies depending on the package you've chosen (and how cooperative your animals are- some need more brain breaks than others, and that's totally OK!).  I never like to rush things, so I take my time during your session.  If we're doing pets or horses, I give them ample time to get familiar with my setup and I give them lots of brain breaks.   My goal is a great experience for all of us!

Once your session is over, I take your images home, load them on my computer, and post a sneak peek on my Facebook page as soon as I'm able.  I want to see your photos as much as you do!  I then work over the next 30 days to perfect your gallery.  All portrait galleries are delivered within 30 days.

Once I finish your photos, you can choose to receive them in an online gallery or we can schedule a second consult for you to see your photos in person.  I bring print samples of your photos to the consult, and you can view your photographs on my calibrated equipment so you can see exactly how they'll turn out.  I bring wall art samples and print samples to the secondary consult, so you can see my most popular products in person.  I also have software so we can digitally view your photographs on your wall, so you can see which sizes you'd most like to order in your own space!

After you receive your gallery, I encourage you to use your print credit and place your product order within 90 days from the date of the session.  Due to digital storage limitations, galleries are archived at that point, and an additional fee is charged to make them live again.  Once I receive your product order, I double check the images and send your order on to the lab.  My professional print lab prints your order and sends your product to me.  I quality check every individual photograph before sending your order to you.  It usually takes around two weeks from the time you place your order until you have the physical product in your hands.
